The art of subtraction

The 80/20 principle is the idea that 80% of your results come from 20% of your efforts.

But it can also work in the reverse - what are the 20% of activities or people causing 80% of my stress?

Marketing, ads, social media - most of it is about consuming more, automating more so you can do more stuff.

Which is exhausting.

Selective laziness is protecting our energy and attention to focus on the things that really matter in your/my life.

So, every once in a while I create a not to do list.

What should you stop doing? What shouldn’t you be doing?

Mini experiment

This isn’t a drill! Get a pen and paper.

Just try it this week. List out the things that drain you, the stuff you need to stop doing.

If you need a little help, ask yourself: What doesn't align with my goals or where I want to be in the long term? What's draining my energy and providing little in return?

Put it on a sticky note where you’ll see it every day and run the experiment.

Questions worth answering

As a continuation of the previous newsletter where we discussed high quality journal prompts, here are some questions that ChatGPT4 generated when I asked what kinds of questions Tim Ferriss asks himself to stay on track on the right things.

P.S. I’m experimenting with ways to make my digital mentors come alive to coach me which I think is kinda neat.
